Ingredients

  • 14 oz smoked sausage cut into half-moons
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 yellow onion diced
  • 1 tbsp minced garlic
  • 24 oz pasta sauce
  • 2 1/2 cups chicken broth
  • 12 oz bow tie pasta
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp pepper

Instructions

Brown the Sausage

  • In a large pot, heat olive oil over medium heat.
  • Add the smoked sausage and cook for about 3 minutes per side, until nicely browned.

Sauté the Onion and Garlic

  • Add the diced onion to the pot and cook for 2 minutes, stirring occasionally, until softened.
  • Stir in the minced garlic and cook for another 30 seconds, until fragrant.

Add Sauce and Broth

  • Pour in the pasta sauce and chicken broth, stirring well to combine.

Cook the Pasta

  • Add the bow tie pasta, followed by the Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper.
  • Stir everything together to ensure the pasta is evenly coated.

Simmer the Dish

  • Bring the mixture to a gentle simmer.
  • Cover the pot and cook for 15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the pasta is tender and the liquid has slightly reduced.

Adjust the Consistency

  • If the liquid reduces too quickly before the pasta is fully cooked, add a little more chicken broth or water, then continue simmering until done.
