Tips and tricks for making this easy dinner recipe:
Can I add meat?
You can! I like to serve this recipe as a meatless dish for Meatless Monday (plus it’s a great budget-friendly meal that way) but you can always brown some ground sausage, lean ground beef, or ground turkey to serve with this pasta dish.
Fresh or frozen tortellini:
You can use either fresh or frozen tortellini for this recipe. When using frozen tortellini it will take the tortellini longer to cook. Fresh tortellini cooks in a shorter amount of time and can be found in the refrigerated section of the grocery store.
More add-ins for cheese tortellini:
- Minced fresh garlic
- Italian seasoning
- Frozen peas
- Fresh broccoli
