Tips and tricks for making this decadent dessert recipe:

Crust to use for this 3 ingredient chocolate pie:

If you choose to make your own crust with graham cracker crumbs and melted butter in a pie plate you are more than welcome to! However, I like to keep it simple with this no-bake dessert recipe and just get a store-bought pie.

An Oreo pie crust or crunchy chocolate crust are great options as well!

Type of chocolate to use:

When making this Hershey’s pie get a package of regular-size Hershey bars to melt and use for the creamy filling. I really enjoy using the milk chocolate flavor. But, you could also use dark chocolate Hershey chocolate bars.

If you don’t have chocolate bars on hand, you could also use chocolate chips to make this Hershey pie recipe.

How to top the chocolate lover’s dream:

To make the top of this pie fancy, you can use a cheese grater and take a piece of chocolate to grate the chocolate bar into shavings to sprinkle over the top of the pie.

Or, chop up the Hershey’s bar into small pieces and place them on the pie to add to the delicious chocolate flavor.

Why is my pie lumpy?

Your cool whip might have been TOO cold. If you don’t allow your cool whip to warm up enough, you could end up with a chunky center rather than a creamy chocolate pie. When you mix the melted milk chocolate bars with the whipped topping it could cause the chocolate to harden back up before it can combine properly.

Fun to make and we liked this. Be sure your Cool Whip is fully thawed and not too cold or some of your chocolate will get solid again, forming small shards as you stir the mixture together (ask me how I know…) giving a textured filling. Another time I’ll use 1.5 C. chocolate chips (most of a 12 oz bag) since those are less expensive here than 6 full sized candy bars. I made a quick graham cracker crust, crushing 9 sheets of cracker and mixing with 1 T. melted butter .. it held together but just barely, so another time I will use more melted butter to thoroughly moisten the cracker crumbs.

I doubled this recipe and the pie turned out great, and since I doubled the recipe I had to use 9×13 pan.
