Ground Beef Hash

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef

  • 1 tsp onion powder

  • 1 tsp garlic powder

  • 12 oz package Zatarains red beans and rice

  • 1 can rotel

  • 4 1/2 cups water

Directions

  • To a large pan on the stove over medium heat add in the ground beef break the ground beef up and add the seasonings in. Cook the ground beef through.
  • Once the ground beef is cooked through remove any excess grease from the pan. Now add in the Zatarain‘s rice, rotel and water stir, well bring to a simmer and cover with a lid let it simmer for 25 minutes, stirring occasionally until the rice is cooked through, once the rice is tender serve.

    Hi Julia! I purchased the meal plan and this was on it. I love the ease of the recipes. But when I tested it out everything took longer than anticipated and I think it’s because of the 4 1/2 cups of water. On the box it says 3 cups I might try it that way next time.

    Hi Julia, I have a question. Did you mean 4 and 1/2 cups of water or was that a misprint? Because mine has been cooking for well over an hour and a half and the liquid is not absorbed. I finally gave up and decided to serve as it. But I half wondered if maybe the liquid measurement was a mistake? Otherwise I’m not sure what I did wrong. Otherwise the flavor is great

    It is frustrating when a brand name is used as an ingredient. Rotel is a brand name.
