Ingredients for French Onion Pork Chops

french onion pork chops
  • Meat: I like to use boneless pork chops for this recipe
  • Sauce: when making this you will need your favorite French onion dip (I enjoy using the Lays French onion dip you can find in the chip aisle)
  • Cheese: use shredded sharp cheddar cheese or mild cheddar cheese depending on your preference
  • Topping: using the crispy fried onions gives this recipe a delicious crunch from the onion mixture

How to make this baked French Onion Pork Chops:

Preheat oven to 350℉.

How to store leftover baked pork chops:

Fridge: Place any leftover pork chops in an airtight container and store them in the fridge for up to 5 days for the best texture and to make sure they are still perfectly juicy.

Tips and tricks for making juicy pork chops with simple ingredients:

Type of pork to use for this easy meal:

I enjoy using the boneless pork chops, but you can also use bone-in chops, pork loin, or thick cut pork chops. However, you will need to adjust the bake time if you choose to use something other than boneless chops.

French onion dip substitutes:

If you don’t love French onion dip or don’t have any on hand there are a few other options to try.

  1. You can swap the dip for sour cream and then season it with a portion of a classic French onion soup package.
  2. To keep things on the healthier side, you could also add French onion soup to plain Greek yogurt as well.
  3. Mayo is also a delicious way to coat the sides of the pork chops before you add the French onions to the pork.

Tasty side dishes to serve with thick pork chops:

  1. White rice
  2. Green beans
  3. Creamy mashed potatoes

Can you make these in the slow cooker?

  2. Michele says:

I do not prefer boneless pork chops so I made it with bone-in chops and it was delicious.

  3. Lauren says:

This was pretty good, but I think it would be even better with chicken! I will try it next time with chicken. Thanks for the recipe. 🙂

Just made this with chicken breasts.Didn’t have French’s Crispy Onions so I crushed up a ½ box of chicken flavored stovetop, mixed it with a tblsp melted butter and sprinkled that over top.Didn’t have ALOT of super onion-y flavor, but it was still pretty darn yummy! I did pound out my chicken breasts a bit thinner AND covered with foil for 1st 20-25min(did bake at 350° tho)then did another 10-15 min without foil to brown up n crisp the topping.Had the PERFECT amount of crunch imo!Was really good and I WILL try with the chops next time.THANK YOU JULIA!!(& other commenters for inspo)

  6. Shauna says:

That was delicious! The only thing I didn’t have was the French onion dip but I did have enough sour cream. So I put onion powder, garlic powder, and salt/pepper on top of to make it like the French onion dip. I also had pork tenderloin and cut it into pork chops. My husband said it was incredible! And he doesn’t like pork tenderloin at all. Thank you Julia for saving pork tenderloin 😄

This was so good! It was easy to put together and even my autistic son who is sensitive to textures loved it.

  8. Margie says:

    Loved the flavor! So easy!

  9. Margie says:

Loved the flavor! I also put foil over and would use thinner pork chops to keep them tender. The thick ones were chewy. Going to try chicken with it next!

  10. Kris says:

I made these used slightly Thicker ones . Came out moist and flavorful and delicious. 10/10 will make again
