Ingredients

  • 5 slices of Johnsonville Sausage Strips, diced (or regular bacon)

  • 1 Tbs minced garlic

  • 2 cups chicken broth

  • 1 cup milk

  • 1/4 cup heavy cream

  • 2 1/2 cups diced rotisserie chicken

  • 8oz penne pasta

  • 1oz package ranch seasoning mix

  • Dash of salt and pepper

Directions

  • In a large pot cook the sausage strips until they are brown (if using regular bacon cook the bacon through) then remove to a separate plate lined with paper towels, set aside.
  • Add the garlic to the pot and stir around until it’s fragrant, about 20 seconds.
  • Stir in the chicken broth, milk, chicken, pasta, ranch seasoning, and salt & pepper. Simmer uncovered for 15 minutes or until the pasta is cooked. Stir frequently while simmering. If the mixture becomes too thick add a little more milk in until it reaches your desired consistency.
  • Turn off the heat add the shredded cheese and sausage strips (or bacon) stir well to melt the cheese and serve.

    Hi Julie,
My family and I are enjoying this dish tonight. It’s one of our favorites. Thought you would appreciate an update. It looks like Johnsonville has stopped producing those delicious sausage strips. They are no longer mentioned on their website. Would it be possible for you to add the 1 cup of shredded cheddar cheese to your printed recipe for all of your newbies and add in where to put in the heavy cream? I know what to add when now but the first time I looked up the recipe I was confused my self. Thanks for all you do to help us with new and yummy ways to feed our families.

Julia, I made this Chicken Ranch pasta-one pot for dinner tonight. Made with bacon because I had half a pkg open in my refrigerator. Anyway, turned out great! I will make again with the sausage strips next time. I’m sure it gives a different taste.

I added spinach and red onions for a bit of nutrition and color and served with a side salad. Thanks for a quick and easy dinner idea, Julia!

Hi Julia! My husband’s only complaint was I didn’t make enough! I’m doubling the recipe next time as we enjoy leftovers!

Made the chicken ranch pasta tonight for supper. YUMMY! Our grocery (Publix) doesn’t have the sausage strips yet so I used Bacon instead. Looking forward to trying the sausage strips when they are in stock. Thanks for the new favorite!
